Many thanks to phoenixbat for letting me post this re-imagining of her original image which can be found over at her Tumblr page.
Usually, I try to add something when I edit an image like colour, shading or extending the background. This image was a joy to work with as it didn't need any of those.
Instead, I tried to make the part of the image that I used look like a 'classically styled' painting. If you look at it for too long or at some of the edges, it looks less like something someone painted and more like the product of a series of photoshop filters and layer styles (which it is).
I did make a few minor changes. Some to mould the image to my own tastes and other to work better with the new style of the image.
I gave her her eyelashes, a couple of eyebrows, changed her mouth position and expression, added her cream coloured torso marking, gave her back her 'under-paint', thinned her neck a bit, made the off screen lighting effect more "realistic" and generally played around with the colour and lighting.
Finishing note:
Oh my god, phoenixbat's shading is exquisite! I wish I could shade cloth like that.
Edit:
Tweaked the shading, evened out her chest colouration and gave her that amulet she likes so much.
Edit number two:
increased her 'eye shine' and restructured her chin.

Love the detail. Her paint-on bra looks like it is obviously painted.
